NHS Staff Put On Their Running Shoes To Celebrate NHS 70

5 June 2018

NHS staff across Cheshire are putting on their running shoes this Saturday (9 June) to celebrate 70 years of the NHS.

Next week’s Parkrun at Queens Park, Crewe, has been dedicated to promoting the work of our NHS community. NHS South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and NHS Vale Royal CCG are encouraging all generations of NHS staff, whether you are retired, currently working in the NHS or a trainee, to join in the event.

You can come along alone or as a group of porters, nurses or office staff - the choice is yours! The event is a chance to have some fun and celebrate the contribution you make to the NHS.

Clare Watson, Chief Officer at the CCGs, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for NHS staff and clinicians to meet up and share their stories of working within our local NHS.

“Some families have a long history of working within the NHS and we hope to see grandparents, parents and the future generation taking part.

“The Parkrun is a great way of maintaining good physical and mental wellbeing, helping you to stay fit and connect with other people over a post run coffee.

“I’d also like to thank everyone at Parkrun for joining in these national celebrations.”

The NHS is turning 70 on 5 July 2018. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, to appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff – the everyday heroes – who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out. The Parkrun is one of a number of local initiatives that are being organised, as part of the national celebration.

The event takes place on Saturday 9 June at 9am at Queens Park, Victoria Avenue, Crewe, Cheshire, CW2 7SE. If you are not a member of Parkrun, you will need to register online in advance to take part. It is free to register, and you can find out more at www.parkrun.org.uk/crewe

If you are taking part in any NHS 70 celebration, don’t forget to share your photos and comments on social media using the official #NHS70.
